Geography and Climate of Dwarka
Dwarka is situated in the Jamnagar district of Gujarat. It lies in the western part of the tip of Gujarat peninsula. Dwarka enjoys a pleasant climate all through the year. However, the best time to visit this place is from October to June.Winters stretch from November to February. The government of Gujarat has invited many private players to develop the airport near Dwarka. The government has also taken initiatives to turn the region into a pilgrimage center. An Rs50 crore master plan has been chalked out to develop the facilities and amenities in the city to turn it into a pilgrimage center. Thousands of devotees and pilgrims from different parts of the world gather in honor of lord Krishna every year.Chief Minister of Gujarat, Mr Narendra Modi aimed at enhancing the peace, harmony and unity of the region through Sadbhavana Mission. He decided to begin the pious mission from Dwarka and urged people to stay away from separatist forces and join hands to lead the nation through the wonderful phase of harmony and peace.

Janmashtami in Dwarka
Janmashtami is celebrated in the main Dwarkadish temple that is very famous in India. Devotees from different parts of India visit the city during the times of celebrations. The festival begins with mangal arti performed in the morning. After beginning with Banta Bhog made of milk products and milk, it is offered to Lord Krishna. This is followed by cleansing of the face and brushing the idol's teeth. The first darshan is thereafter allowed to the devotees.
Apart from celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna, tourists and residents of the area also enjoys water sports such as surfing, skiing, motor rides, water scooters, and speed boats.

Places of Interest in Dwarka
Somnath Temple: Somnath Temple represents one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Shiva. The temple is said to be reconstructed six times and thus it is known as the "Shrine Eternal".
Dwarka Lighthouse: Dwarka Lighthouse is situated at Rupen Creek. It is 18m tall and constructed along with installation of an oil wick lamp. The tower is 43 meters high and built between 1960 and 1962.
Dwarkadish Temple: Dwarkadish Temple is popularly known as Jagat temple and built in the 16th century. This five storied building is 70.5 meters high and the platform area is about 1800 sq ft.
Nageshwara Jyotirlinga Temple: Nageshwara Jyotirlinga Temple is also known as Nagnath temple is located in the outskirts of the city. It is said to be one of the 12 Jyotirlingas mentioned in Shiva Purana.
Rukshamanee Mandir: Rukshamanee Mandir is dedicated to wife of Lord Krishna, Devi Rukmani and features different paintings of the 12th century.
Beyt Dwarka: Beyt Dwarka is located at a distance of 30km from the Dwarka town. This temple is over 500 years old and built by Sri Vallabhacharya. This enclosed island has few temples, coral reefs, sand beaches that attract tourists every year.
Gomati Sangam Ghat: Gomati Sangam Ghat is situated where river Gomati flows. It is popularly known to be a scared place for taking a bath.
Gita Mandir: Gita Mandir was built in 1970 by Birla. The temple is made of marble and protects the teachings and values of "Bhagavad Gita".
